How to Apply
Prospective students apply for admission to the accelerated 4+1 or standard Master of Science in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) through the Graduate School’s online application system. Learn more about the application process below.
The MSQE program does not require GRE and/or GMAT scores for admission. Instead, applicants receive a personal, holistic review based on the following requirements:
- UConn Graduate School admissions requirements
- Three letters of recommendation
- Personal statement (650 words)
- GPA 3.0+
Accelerated 4+1 Master’s Program (for current UConn Students)
Current UConn students interested in applying to the accelerated 4+1 master's program should contact MSQE adviser Min Seong Kim to schedule a meeting prior to applying.
Application to the accelerated program is a two-step process:
- During your sophomore or junior year, or within the fall semester of your senior year, submit the pre-application at UConn’s Graduate School.
- When nearing graduation from your undergraduate studies, in the spring semester of your senior year, complete the final application.
When completing the application form for the accelerated 4+1 master's program, under Intended Program, please select:
- Level of Study: Masters
- Academic Areas: Social Sciences
- Program: Quantitative Economics MS
- Campus: Stamford or Storrs
- Entry Term: Spring or Fall

Note: Students applying to the Storrs campus may begin their studies in either the fall or spring semester. Admission to the Stamford campus is available for the spring semester only.
Standard Master’s Program
When completing the application form for the standards MSQE, under Intended Program, please select:
- Level of Study: Masters

- Program: Quantitative Economics MS
- Campus: Stamford or Storrs
- Entry Term: Fall

- The standard master’s program only accepts students for a fall semester start.
- International students seeking to study at the Stamford campus should consult with the MSQE adviser Min Seong Kim (min_seong.kim@uconn.edu).

Applying early is strongly recommended to avoid last-minute processing delays.
The MSQE program does not offer graduate assistantships at this time.
